SMOOTH TARE Vicia tetrasperma (Fabaceae) Height to 50cm
Slender, scrambling annual that is easily overlooked. Found in grassy places and hedgerows. FLOWERS are 4-8mm long and pinkish lilac; appear singly or in pairs (May-Aug). FRUITS are smooth pods, usually containing 4 seeds. LEAVES comprise 2-5 pairs of narrow leaflets and end in tendrils. STATUS-Locally common in England and Wales.
