SHORT-FRUITED WILLOWHERB Epilobium obscurum (Onograceae) Height to 80cm. Upright perennial, similar to Square-stalked Willowherb but with broader leaves and shorter fruits. Favours damp ground. FLOWERS are 6-8mm across with pink petals and a club-shaped stigma (Jul-Aug). FRUITS are pods (4-6cm long) that contain cottony seeds. LEAVES are oval with a rounded base. STATUS-Widespread and common.
