ITALIAN LORDS-AND-LADIES Arum italicum (Araceae) Height to 50cm. Perennial of shady places. FLOWERS comprise a yellowish spathe (not purple-margined), cowl-shaped (the tip overhanging) and a yellow spadix (May-Jun). FRUITS are red berries, borne in a spike. LEAVES are arrowhead-shaped but less pointed than Lords-and-Ladies; some appear in autumn. STATUS-Common only in S England; a garden escape elsewhere.
